Front Door Focus

Trend in The New Year…

Your home’s front entrance is turning into the focal point it should have been a long time ago.

Replace your front door with a more modern glass style, allowing for light to shine outward and inviting people in.

Homeowners are opting for either dark wood tones or a modern black look.

Good to Know!

- Laughing is good for the heart and can increase blood flow by 20 percent.

-  Three presidents, all Founding Fathers—John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Monroe—died on July 4. Presidents Adams and Jefferson also died the same year, 1826; President Monroe died in 1831. Coincidence?

-Sliced bread was first manufactured by machine and sold in the 1920s by the Chillicothe Baking Company in Missouri.

Checklist for your home in the

Winter Months

1. Check/test smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, and all ground-fault circuit interrupters.

2. Check filters for your HVAC.

3. Check your pipes.  To prevent frozen pipes, insulate pipes near windows, doors and in areas of the home that are unheated. Disconnect your garden hose from the outside faucet.

4.Protect entryways.  All that snow, ice and mud can wreak havoc on your entryway floors. Place mats both inside and outside the door, along with boot trays inside the entryway.

5. Check for air leaks around all doors and windows.

6. Reverse ceiling fans. There should be a switch to make the fan blades run clockwise. Running the blades in a clockwise position during the colder months can push heated air down.
